Student admission into the programmes offered by the University will be based strictly on merit. Students will be required to possess the requisite qualifications at the IB/SSCE/GCE examinations as well as an acceptable score at the University Matriculation Examination (UME).
Apart from the external screening examination, candidates seeking
admission into the University will be required to pass an internal
screening test and interview. These measures will be adopted to
ensure high quality student input as an essential means of guaranteeing
quality output
Admission Requirements for Undergraduate Programmes
Prospective students would need to satisfy the following general requirements before they are invited for admission into the Stella Maris University:
a) All admissions into the university shall be through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
b) For admission through 100 level (UME), candidates must:
i. Obtain five (5) credits at SSCE (or equivalent) in relevant subjects at not more than 2 sittings including credit passes in English and Mathematics;
ii. Score acceptable points in the UME in relevant subjects.
c) For admission to 200 level (direct entry), candidates should (in addition to 5 SSCE credits as in (a) i above), obtain at least two (2) A level (or its equivalent) passes in relevant subjects, or possess NCE, OND or ATS with credit passes, or possess a good first degree in another field as the case may be.
d) Credit in English Language is compulsory for admission into all courses.
e) Candidates are also required to pass an internal screening test/interview in addition to passing the UME
